LIHU‘E — There is a new face among the Wilcox Medical Center ‘ohana, as Hawai‘i Pacific Health announced Wednesday that Darla Sabry was named vice president of patient services and chief nurse executive.
Sabry will oversee patient services and the nursing teams at Kauai’s largest medical center.
“Darla brings a wealth of experience to her position here on Kaua‘i,” said Jen H. Chahanovich, Wilcox Medical Center president and CEO and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic CEO. “We are excited to have her join us, and look forward to the contributions she will make to our team and our community.”
Sabry began her career in health care as a certified nursing assistant more tham 30 years ago, states the HPH announcement. She worked in the intensive care units of several mainland hospitals before joining Straub Medical Center on O‘ahu, a part of the Hawai‘i Pacific Health family of health care providers, in 2012.
Sabry has served as a supervisor, nurse manager and, most recently, as director of hospital operations, managing the Emergency Department, stroke program and several nursing teams and playing a critical role in Straub’s COVID-19 response plan.

Sabry holds a bachelor’s degree from Teikyo Marycrest University in Davenport, Iowa, and a master’s degree in business administration in health care management from Western Governors University in Millcreek, Utah.
She is a member of the Hawai‘i State Mental Health Task Force, the Hawai‘i State Stroke Coalition, the O‘ahu Regional Trauma Advisory Council and the local American Organization of Nurse Leaders.
