LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center extended-furlough inmate who failed to return to his community residence Sunday remains at-large, the state Department of Public Safety said Wednesday.
Ricardo Navor Jr., 47, who has been incarcerated on a drug charge since 2016, did not return to his Lihu‘e-area residence at his scheduled time of 10 p.m. on Sunday night. Personnel with the Kaua‘i Police Department and Sheriffs Division were notified, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Inmates in the extended-furlough program live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.
KCCC saw similar situations in June 2017, Oct. 2015 and Aug. 2014, when extended-furlough inmates failed to check into their community residences.
Navor’s sentence was set to expire in Aug. 2025. His next parole hearing was scheduled for this month. An escape charge is expected to be added to his sentence.
Navor is 5’7” tall, weighs 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is classified as “community custody.” which is the lowest custody level. Navor is serving time for promoting a dangerous drug in the second degree.
