One fatality was a male resident in his 70s who was hospitalized. The other fatality was a male resident in his 80s who was hospitalized. There are a total of 22 Kaua‘i COVID-related fatalities to date.
“We express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of these residents,” Mayor Derek Kawakami shared in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones at this time.”
Also Wednesday, the KDHO recorded 49 new infections, bringing the number of active, recorded cases to 330, with seven hospitalized.
To date, the county has recorded 11,252 cumulative cases.
A mobile vaccine clinic will be at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center today from 1 to 5 p.m., open for those aged 12 and older. First and second doses and boosters of Pfizer and Moderna are available. No appointment is necessary.
Saturday, Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i will host two walk-in vaccine clinics open to everyone aged 5 and older. In Kapa‘a, the team will be at the Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i Kaua‘i Community Health Center behind Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital from 9 to 11 a.m., and at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea from 9 to 11 a.m.
A free testing site at Kaua‘i War Memorial Conventional Hall in Lihu‘e is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
