Kaua‘i road closures for Jan. 9-14

‘ELE‘ELE — More construction to complete the ‘Ele‘ele pedestrian bridge over Kaumuali‘i Highway at the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center will commence this week, along with various other road-work projects across the island.

A two-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway in both directions between mile markers 15.9 and 16, Waialo Road and ‘Ele‘ele Road, happens Monday evening, Jan. 10, through Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for railing installation.

Koloa

Sections of Pa‘anau Road in Koloa will be under short lane closures from Tuesday, Jan. 11 to Monday, Jan. 31, according to the county Department of Public Works and Pacific Concrete Cutting and Coring Inc.

Work will include improvements to pedestrian access to Koloa School, including new sidewalks, crosswalks and ADA ramps.

Work hours this week are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no road work occurring during the peak traffic times for school drop-off and pick-up.

This project is scheduled to be completed in June.

‘Oma‘o

Continued road-repaving work is scheduled from Monday through Friday, Jan. 10 to 14, along portions of ‘Oma‘o Road near the Kaumuali‘i Highway intersection, according to the DPW and contractor Maui Kupuno Builders. Lane closures and one-way traffic along ‘Oma‘o Road should be expected from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ‘Oma‘o Road will be closed at Koloa Road to all northbound traffic.

Wailua

A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road take place from today through Friday, Jan. 14, 24 hours a day, for road and shoulder work;

Kapa‘a

Construction is scheduled from Monday through Friday, Jan. 10 to 14, on Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of Safeway in Waipouli that will include asphalt concrete paving, pavement striping and installing of pavement markers.

Hours of construction are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lane closures will be necessary, but two-way traffic will be maintained. Anyone with questions or concerns may call Global Specialty Contractors Inc., at 808-843-8881 or Chad Alcos at 808-756-5518;

Kealia

A right-shoulder closure of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 11.8 and 13, Kukuihale Road and Kamalomaloo Stream, takes place today through Friday, Jan. 14, 24 hours a day, for shoulder work;

Anahola

A single-lane closure of Kuhio Highway in the eastbound direction between mile markers 7.1 and 7.6, Aleka Loop and Ala Road, takes place Monday through Friday, Jan. 10 to 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving work;

A bridge closure of Kuhio Highway in the eastbound direction near mile marker 13.6, at Anahola Stream, takes place Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work;

Kilauea

A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 19 and 19.6, Kapuna Road and Wailapa Road, takes place Monday through Friday, Jan. 1o to 14, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for resurfacing work.
