Jessie P. Figueira
Jessie P. Figueira passed away on Sept. 1, 2021, at the age of 92, in ‘Oma‘o. She was born on Jan. 13, 1929, in Puhi. She retired from the Waiohai Hotel.
She was preceded in death by husband William Figueira Sr.
She is survived by sons William (Steph) Figueira of ‘Oma‘o, John Figueira of ‘Oma‘o, daughter Adelaida (Ralph) Koerte of ‘Oma‘o, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Antone ‘Tony’ Farias Sr.
Antone “Tony” Farias Sr., of Lihu‘e, unexpectedly passed away at Straub Medical Center on Aug. 30, 2021, at the age of 76. Born on June 8, 1945 in Lihu‘e, Tony was a foreman and heavy-equipment operator for Grove Farm, and later retired as a driver for National Car Rental.
Tony was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the outdoors and craftsmanship. He enjoyed boating down the Niumalu River and fishing at Kalapaki Beach.
He was preceded in death by parents Frank Farias Sr. and Ida Dar, daughter Mary Silva, grandson Bryant “Akoni” Farias-Maghanoy, great-grandson Kainoa Anthony Cross, sister Marie Dar, and brothers Stanford and Dennis Farias.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Celeste Farias of Lihu‘e, children Nalei (Norman) Gomes of San Diego, Tony (Rachel) Farias Jr. of Haiku, Maui, Maile (Linda) Farias-Ka‘ahanui of Lihu‘e, Tanya (Gavino) Farias of Lihu‘e, and adoptive son Shane (Vanessa) Farias of Lihu‘e, 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A small, private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
James P. ‘Bully’ Mundon
James P. “Bully” Mundon of Kapa‘a passed away on Aug. 27, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born on Kaua‘i on April 26, 1939. He retired from the Air Force and Wailua Golf Course, and was the owner of Oki’s Box Lunch.
He was preceded in death by wife Annette Mundon, parents Abe and Lillian Mundon, son-in-law Charles Carveiro and granddaughter Jayda Mundon.
He is survived by daughters Sheri Ann Carveiro and Jamie (Kala Boy) Kaluahine, son Jay Mundon and wife Barbara Mundon, 11 grandchildren and six great-granchildren.
Services are private.
