VOICES: On ‘King Ige’s’ vaccine passport

Governor Ige’s vaccine passport appears to be a pilot project expected to go national in the next year or so.

The national program is spearheaded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Department of Defense. This is the same DOD that, in the middle of the night, abandoned hundreds of American citizens to the mercy of the Taliban, last month; along with a strategic Air Force base and tens of billions of dollars worth of U.S. military equipment — a parting gift to the terrorists and their friends the Chinese Communist Party.

And this is the same CDC that has no problem with tens of thousands of COVID-infected illegal immigrants who stroll across the southern border and who get bussed or flown to all parts of the nation (including Hawai‘i) by the federal government.

So be comforted. Our fate is in good hands. Dr. Kelly Moor, of the Immunization Action Coalition, which is charged with administering the shots, assures us that the passport is the “simplest” way of keeping track of who’s vaxed (and who isn’t.)

Moor explains: “Everyone will be issued a written card that they can put in their wallet that will tell them what they had and when their next dose is due. Let’s do the simple, easy thing first. Everyone’s going to get that.”

So any time the government decides you are due for a booster they can jab a needle in your arm (filled with who-knows-what)? It’s either that or you forfeit your individual liberties. Pretty damned scary.

A couple of things to keep in mind: First, this is not a law passed by Congress or by the Legislature. It is a dictate imposed on the entire population by a single politician as if he were king. King Ige. Second, this is all over a malady with a 99.9% survival rate. And, finally, this coronavirus nightmare comes courtesy of the Chinese Communist Party.

Well said Richard!! We need more people to speak out for our freedoms to choose what they do with their bodies and lives. We are stronger than these people who want to oppress us that are taking more and more away from us all every single day in the name of safety. We are free ands it’s time we act like it.

As always, you should put “VOICES” in the headline because this is just some resident’s bizarre rant and not actual news. Please at least fact check incorrect numbers to avoid spreading misinformation: 1.6% mortality rate in the United States per Johns Hopkins. Much higher mortality rate for cases in unvaccinated people. Even Facebook flags posts with misinformation…

I will defend your right to be critical of emergency mandates by single politicians. A year plus into this the legislature should be more engaged.

But please stop getting your medical facts from nonmedical sources. As of this past week, There were 146,182 cases reported daily (7 day average). During the same 7 day period there was an average of 11,165 hospitalizations and 1448 deaths per day. That is a !% death rate – ten times higher than what you state. That’s deaths, not serious long term morbidity. Almost 1 in 500 Americans have died with/rom COVID during this pandemic.

I understand that the numbers of hospitalized and deaths are not independent of the reported case numbers and there is some bias. But over 666,000 people have did in this country.

Rale against the political response to COVID. But dont regurgitate BS as if those numbers have meaning.

If you get it and don’t want to use it, you don’t have to.
I do wish the author would just get vaccinated and stop being a menace to our island society.

Even saying the survival rate is 1% (which is a lot closer than your .1% pulled out of, well I’m sure you know ), using Kauai’s population of 72k means that you are fine with 700 deaths just on Kauai.
Its amazing that people like you are suspicious of vaccines that have been tested by people who know what they are doing all over the world, but would rather take some snake oil sold to you by people on facebook who think that their D in high school science qualifies them to be anti-establishment doctors.

Mr. Morse is apparently ignorant of the health toll including deaths from COVID. He apparently is also ignorant of the fact that most of our population does not want to be indoors with any unvaxed persons.

Morse Code…do u not realize the number of people that die every year from preventable medical conditions? I’m guessing u definitely don’t. Look up the facts and get yourself together.

Glad no one appointed….elected you anything, Richard! Franklin was referring to a 1750 clash between the PA legislature, and taxes required to defeat the French and Indians at the northern border of PA. The quote is pulled from a letter Franklin wrote in approx 1750, never inferring that anyone should give up or trade liberty or safety in some sort of “trade”. This “quote” is used but very seldom explained as to what Franklin meant by using it. But of course, I am sure you would make a more effective king than Gov Ige, who was duly elected by voters, right?

Thank you for writing this letter. When someone takes a stand for freedom all the sheep attack. Since when did the majority of people hate freedom so much and beg for more tyranny. End this madness. Give us back our lives and country. This whole pandemic lockdown defies the principles of freedom our great nation was founded on.

What lockdown? There’s no lockdown in over a year. It’s proof of vaccination and it’s been required for schools and many jobs for DECADES. Grow up and stop whining like tiny children.

I saw this over the weekend. There is a group of unvaccinated people who are happy and willing to take the risk. There is a group of vaccinated people who are happy and willing to wear a mask or not. There is a group of people who are unhappily vaccinated and are fearful of the other groups so they want to force regulations and mandates on them. For the last group, why don’t they wear N95 masks and not worry and be happy. N95 masks are readily available and do actually work unlike the cloth masks that we are told “my mask protects you and your mask protects me”.
I am vaccinated. I wear the cloth mask indoors. I did not however subject myself to a yet to be approved by the FDA vaccination only to be told later that it does not prevent covid but just reduces the symptoms. That is bogus. In my opinion a vaccine should prevent the disease.

Your post seemed to indicate current times.

Also, the vaccine does prevent the disease… depending on which one, up to 95% of the time. Some people have different body chemistries and there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that can lead to breakthrough cases. But just because it’s not 100% doesn’t mean it’s not a great thing.

    2. Me September 21, 2021 3:35 am Reply

None of the vaccines prevent it and there are No consistent results one way or the other as it is still experimental. A person shouldnt be harassed or forced into a decision like an injection of an unknown. I love Kauai and hope for the sake of everyone here it doesnt turn into an Elm Street.

I don’t need to take a shot to have my freedom already guaranteed by the Constitution.
You can give your freedom up for a shot that clearly has only made this pandemic worse.
Look at the stats . Since this vaccine has come out , cases and deaths have skyrocketed worldwide. Please explain that .

Is there a vaccine for idiocy?

  21. RGLadder37 September 20, 2021 10:35 pm Reply

I think this may be a good idea. But you will see that the tourist industry will be hit the hardest. Not only in terms of being vaccinated, but also return guest to the hotel will go down. Those number shown earlier were an inflated version of TGI on tourism. Many business are going out of business. While few are just beginning to start. If these areas concern the majority of the population, then we have a problem. We must sustain living without tourism for a time. Find some other avenue to ride on. Then we will be safe. Financially.

  23. Whose Freedom? September 21, 2021 4:18 am Reply

Let me just say that I respect your right to make decisions about your personal health, whether I agree with you or not. I do not believe that gives you the right to make choices about the health of others, whether you agree with me or not. It really is this simple – your choices put my loved ones i.e. grandchildren that are too young to receive the vaccine, at risk. In fact, my 3 and 5 year old grandchildren are in quarantine BECAUSE they were unknowingly in close proximity to a COVID positive individual. My grandchildren, being thoughtful and considerate humans, were masked. Do you happen to know the pediatric hospitalization and morbidity rate due to COVID-19? You might want to check out those statistics as you exercise your right to not vaccinate.

    1. Andrew September 21, 2021 8:58 pm Reply

I have seen the statistics. And verified most pediatric hospitalizations are for something not related to covid. And are tested positive when admitted
