Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Marie Carveiro
Gwendolyn (Gwen) Carveiro of Kalaheo passed away at Garden Isle Rehabilitation & Healthcare on Feb. 27, 2020, at the age of 81. She worked for Wilcox Hospital and Hopaco, and retired in 1993.
She was preceded in death by parents John V. Medeiros Sr. and Mary Medeiros, husband Lawrence Carveiro and brother Leonard Medeiros.
She is survived by daughters Lawrie (Ron) Ellamar, Debby (Leroy) Gatioan and Lisa (Marvin) Fernandez, brother John V. (Shirley) Medeiros Jr., sisters Carol (Tom) DePonte and Kathleen (George) Langtad, hanai sisters Wanda (Bondie) Brooksher and the late Wilma (Fred) Dela Cruz, grandchildren Raven (Brian Shoop) Woods, Amanda (Troy) Suga, Micah (Teal Takayama) Fernandez, Skyler (Alissa Rapacon) Fernandez, Branden (Jessie Coney) Gatioan and Tanner (Kellie Joto) Fernandez, great-grand babies Makani Fernandez and Tristan Suga, furbaby Lucy, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Aug. 14, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Mass begins at 10 a.m.

Thomas ‘Tommy’ John Horcher

Thomas “Tommy” John Horcher was born in Illinois and moved to California with his mom and dad when he was 2 years old. He lived in California for 24 years until he moved to Kaua‘i in 2009 to be closer to his dad and stepmom. He was the owner of All Island Adventures, “Creating Memories that Last a Lifetime.”
He is survived by mother Janey (Steve) Dawson Smith, father Don (Sharon) Horcher, sisters Ashley (Sean) O’Malley and Caity Bailey, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of friends.
He had an infectious smile, a heart of gold, found humor in everything and was the king of one-liners. He was a true San Francisco Giants fan. He fell in love with the island and all of its beauty. He gave his life to save two others, and he will be forever remembered as a hero. We love you so much Tommy, and we will see you again in paradise.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Sept. 18, at Po‘ipu Beach Park at 4 p.m.

Ida Healani Kaliko‘okalani (Hayselden) Furumoto
Ida Healani Kaliko‘okalani (Hayselden) Furumoto passed away peacefully on July 29, 2021, at her childhood home in Kekaha, surrounded by her family. She was born on Jan. 2, 1948, at Waimea Dispensary Hospital to Thomas Sr. and Ida Hayselden.
She was preceded in death by husband Gene Furumoto, parents, sister Ululani Woerman, son-in-law Keala Kauanui and brother-in-law Joe Brown.
She is survived by daughters Grace Furumoto, Cherlee Serquina, Jean (Jonathan) Suguitan, Lynette Furumoto and Iris Furumoto, grandchildren Ashley Furumoto, Austin Furumoto, Nathan Suguitan, Kaylyn (Isaa) Horner, Edwin Furumoto, Makana Furumoto-Serquina, Kailani Kinney, Beau Furumoto-Serquina, Kaimanu Kinney, Shaelyne Kauanui, Kainoa Kinney and Brayden Kauanui, great-granddaughter Jaelyn Horner, siblings Thomas (Nancy) Hayselden Jr. and Alice Brown, brother-in-law Ken Woerman, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Sunday, Aug. 8, at Prince Kuhio Park at 10 a.m. The family requests casual or aloha attire and welcomes flowers.

Loren J. Rendon
Loren J. Rendon, 41, of Koloa, passed away on July 24, 2021, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was born on Kaua‘i on Nov. 10, 1979, and was an entrepreneur.
He is survived by parents Herminio and Laureana Rendon, siblings Christine Wakumoto/Rendon, Keith (Rachelle) Rendon and Clayton Rendon, nephews Eric (Tiffany) Wakumoto Jr., Jonathan (Sha’Nisha) Wakumoto, Blaze (Brandy) Rendon and Clayton (Katie) Rendon Jr., nieces Jenna (Kapena) Tehero, Jaimie (James) Wakumoto, Shaya Rendon and Chrislyn (Kevin) Robledo.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Aug. 14, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa, with visitation from 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Social distancing and masks are required.

Robert Tyler Ryder
We regret to announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Ryder, who passed away at home on July 24, 2021.
Bob was born on May 11, 1941, in San Francisco, and passed away at home in Waimea at the age of 80. He was a retired boat captain working at PMRF Barking Sands. Bob was preceded in death by parents Robert S. Ryder and Gertrude A. Tyler.
He is survived by wife Faith Ryder, brother Ernie (Patti) Ryder, sister Trinka (Jay) Headly, daughters Tanya (Jean) Valerio, Deborah (Clayton) Vea and Dawn (Mark) Vegas, son Robert “Paka” (Leihau) Ryder, stepson Preston (Kristin) Chong, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
No services will be held at this time. The family has asked for privacy.
Jolene E. Justis
Jolene E. Justis, 67, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Aug. 4, 2021, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 29, 1954, and was a preschool teacher for many years in the mainland and Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by parents Jack and Mary Etta Justis, sister Judy Kay Quy and brother-in-law Ron Feasel.
She is survived by husband Michael Cudworth, daughters Bree Annon Larson and Keri Jo (Mark) Cooper, grandchildren Koa and Zadi Burke, Finn, Cruz and Brix Cooper, sisters Jacketta Lee Feasel, Jerie Vae (Carlos) Tichenor, Janice Marie (Chris) Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
