Collision snarls Lihue traffic Wednesday
LIHU‘E — A collision briefly blocked Kuhio Highway on Wednesday morning, at around 10:40 a.m. between a semi-truck heading east and a gray Mustang on Kuhio Highway, in front of McDonald’s restaurant in Lihu’e. Kaua‘i Police Department said there were no injuries reported. The driver of the Tiger Enterprises’ semi-truck, Calvin Eulalio, said he was just driving like any normal workday when the car came out of nowhere, with two occupants inside.

talk about big trucks,recently a big loader truck passed me going the opposite direction by half way bridge i herd a noise ,i looked closely ,the passing rig flew a rock from its tires,and cracked my winshield, i turned around and tried to pursued the big rig but he was gone either poipu oe headed west made a police report,,my deductible was 250.00 the rest the insurance pay for,after the incident im noticing and aware how fast these trucks are going, ive began to notice that also there loads with rocks arent being cover, i dont see any weight stations,,on the road like before,its great all the trucks are working ,just need to be more carefull of our cargo and cover our loads, mahalo
Need a better explanation of accident…. Yes multiple concerns right at that spot!!!-
1- Big trucks go through that area too fast [ and not able to break fast enough if problem
occurs.}
2- So many people are turning into McDonalds that creates a dangerous situation- thinking need to block all turns of cars heading east and wanting to turn left to enter McDonanlds.
As you know the -Mc Donalds drive through lane is always backed up onto the highway…
Then adding tourist to the mix— only going to have more accidents!!!
How do you NOT see a semi truck??? Good thing no one injured.
Looking at the pic, looks like the tourist was (as usual) making an illegal move. I wonder if they drive at home like they drive here.
You don’t say, right there in front of the McDonalds?…every single time I drive through there i brace for impact. There is always someone unwrapping a mc-breakfast wrapper while turning out, or traffic being backed up onto the highway because the drive-through is backed up onto the road. But they know this…
Gray mustang convertible. Comes out of nowhere. Seems pretty obvious what happened!
The traffic is crazy around there. Having the highway also be the main street in the main town that pedestrians have to regularly cross doesn’t make sense!
Thought- large construction trucks should not travel along that stretch of road downtown Lihue and also not allowed on Rice Street. Large construction trucks coming from the west can detour to Nawiliwili Road head makai and then utilize the large highway by the airport- [Kapule? Road] to bypass downtown Lihue.
How much is the price of McDonald’s Big Mac at this McDonald’s? At another location it cost $5.63 dollars and 63 cents just for the sandwich. It depends on if you like eating a tired old burger that has been selling for over 50 years now. Big Mac looks like it is really good upon first glance. But when you finish it, this food really taste bad in your stomach. Is this too much to point out? I don’t think so. They’ll pay to advertise McDonald’s. Do you eat this sandwich all the time? There are better burgers on the market. Is this fair to say that McDonald’s have become a household name and this stuff sells just by being a household name. Even though this burger taste junk. Burger King is the other option. Came to Kaua’i in 1985 at present location, Kukui Grove shopping center. I think I’ll go for the quick burger at Burger King. Whopper. I eat this more often than a Big Mac.
