LIHU‘E — Bill Butner, playing for Da Kruzers in the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League, conked a homerun, Saturday against the Rookies at the Kaumakani Field.
But the solo shot, Butner’s first in his career, came up short as the Rookies took a 16-2 win to preserve its undefeated record in the league standings.
Kawaihau, scheduled to meet the Rookies Saturday at the Peter Rayno Park in Hanamaulu, fell victim to the pitching of ‘Ohana Rebels’ Myles Yoshida who allowed just one run, and the Rebels’ bats that was led by Gordon Yee cranking a 2-run In-the-Park Homerun in the third inning in the contest that was called in the fifth inning, 13-1 in favor of ‘Ohana Rebels.
The pitching-hitting combination of the Rebels overflowed into its second game of the day as the Rebels blanked the East Kaua‘i Legend, 13-0 in another TKO contest, a makeup game from the Feb. 20 rainout.
Games in the Kaua‘i Senior Softball league continue Saturday at the ‘Ele‘ele field and the Peter Rayno Park in Hanamaulu. The first pitch at both fields go off at 9 a.m.
