KAPA‘A — The Kaua‘i Invasive Species Committee and the Kaua‘i Forest Bird Recovery Project are launching a virtual-outreach series, “Forest Fridays,” the first Friday of each month, starting today at 5 p.m.
It is free and open to the public. Each month will feature a different conversation topic, brief interviews with different panelists and visual presentations.
The first presentation will address the question, “What does a healthy forest mean to you?”
It will feature the annual Hawaiian blessing of KFBRP’s field season. Panelists include Tiffani Keanini (KISC), Lisa “Cali” Crampton (KFBRP) and Keahi Manea (Ka‘imi Na‘auao o Hawai‘i Nei Institute). They will share information about their projects, activities in the forest and motivation behind the work they do.
The event will also include a brief segment, “Faces of the Forest.” This ongoing segment will highlight one individual species found in the forest or an individual working to protect forest resources.
This is a unique opportunity to discover what is happening in the forest with regards to conservation, research and cultural practices. People are encouraged to participate in the conversation by submitting questions and discussion points before and during the event.
