KAPA‘A — Kawaihau bats exploded early, including a 2-run in-the-park homerun by Judge Michael Soong, Saturday during the Kaua‘i Senior Softball games waged at the Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Sports Park that shared sporting excitement with pick up tennis games, pickleball matches, a skateboard safety and basics clinic, and the filled skatepark.
Capitalizing on Hanamaulu Hillsiders’ pitcher, Philip Delos Reyes, Kawaihau piled up a 9-2 lead following two complete innings of play.
Kawaihau went on to post a 19-2 win over the Hillsiders to improve to an undefeated 5-0 record in the league that started play, five weeks ago.
Five of the six contests waged between the Kapa‘a and Hanapepe fields finished with TKO victories, or having a margin of 12 runs, or more.
The Rookies, entering the week with a 3-0 standing, remained undefeated with its 21-9 win over West Kaua‘i, improving to 4-0 in the standings, a game behind Kawaihau because of its bye status, last week.
Games will be played Saturday at both the Wailua and Puhi parks with the first pitch going at 9 a.m.
