WAINIHA — The copunty Department of Water announced a water service shutdown scheduled for customers in Wainiha on Monday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather-permitting. The affected area includes customers on a portion of Kuhio Highway; from Powerhouse Road to Ananalu Road, Powerhouse Road, Ala Eke Road, a portion of Ananalu Road; from the intersection with Kuhio Highway, to and including Anahulu Road in Wainiha. The 4-hour shutdown is necessary in order to conduct repairs to a distribution line on the Haena side of the Wainiha Bridge on Kuhio Highway.

Additionally, traffic on the Wainiha Bridge will be stopped intermittently to allow equipment to move safely through the area. Traffic control personnel will be on scene to help direct traffic.

Powerhouse road construction work
The county Department of Public Works announced that construction work will begin on Wainiha Powerhouse Road on Oct. 12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, as needed.
Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other conditions.
Contracted with Earthworks Pacific, Inc., the scope of work includes several culvert replacements, existing box culvert repair, slope stabilization, paving, and guardrail replacement/installation.
Road closures will be brief and announced on the message board at the intersection of Powerhouse Road and Kuhio Highway. If needed, transportation will be provided through the work zone with pickup and drop-off at your residence and intersection with Kuhio Highway.
