Patty Ka‘iakapu (mahalo for the contribution to the Kaua‘i Retired and Senior Volunteer Program National Day of Service project) had a Seth Womble face mask and a NirMana shirt as proof that Holly Ka‘iakapu will be one of the participating artists during the NirManaFest coming up in October.

Grace Domingo Delos Reyes of the county Agency on Elderly Affairs said people are able to donate towards the care packages Kaua‘i RSVP Advisory Council members are creating to honor and show appreciation for the 350-plus frontline workers at Kaua‘i’s hospitals. Call 241-4479 to schedule an appointment for the drive-thru, no-contact donations at the Lihu‘e Civic Center Pi‘ikoi Building Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 8 and 9.

Happy birthday to Edie Ignacio Neumiller and Wynde Thomas (mahalo for that award-winning piece from the Kaua‘i Society of Artists marine-debris exhibit — it should look real nice on Jessica Else’s wall!) of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i, who celebrated their special days during Zonta Club service to the community when everyone sang the birthday anthem to Edie during the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort &Beach Club meal and food distribution in Lihu‘e Thursday.

The excitement didn’t end there, though, as Helena Cooney became the newest member of the East Kaua‘i Lions Club during special induction ceremonies officiated by Lions Zone Chair Harvey Kinoshita, Past District Governors Roy Nishida andKelvin Moniz (he also leads the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank), and EK Lions President Janice Bond, who recruited Cooney and invited her to volunteer Thursday during the club’s volunteerism.
