LIHU‘E — Buggah Planas worked both sides of the ball, Saturday to lead the Lihu‘e Baseball League Mustang Pirates to a 7-5 edge over the LBL Mustang White Sox during the opener of a Saturday doubleheader at the Lihu‘e County Park Mustang field.
The White Sox broke a 3-3 stalemate in the fourth inning when Ashton led the White Sox with a 2-for-4 showing in the box, and Jason P singled and doubled, respectively, with one away. They scored on Runs Batted In from Cannon and Keith, going a perfect 3-for-3 in the box for the 5-3 bulge after four innings of play.
Pirate bats exploded for three hits for four runs in response during the fifth inning to come back and seal the deal behind the pitching of Planas, who closed the final inning, allowing a hit and striking out a White Sox batter.
Overall, the White Sox finished with its five runs coming off six hits led by Keith, the Sox’s starting pitcher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 in the box. Ashton hit a pair of singles, and Jason doubled in the fourth frame.
Planas, scoring twice in the win, topped the Pirates’ lumberyard with a 3-for-4 showing. Chase Kawakami and Ksingston followed each scoring twice, going 2-for-3 in the box, and marking a pair of RBI for Chase, and an RBI for Kingston.
Drake, the Pirates’ starting pitcher, scored once, was 1-for-2 in the box, and marked an RBI.
The second contest scheduled for Saturday did not materialize.
LBL next hosts the Bronco division contest on, Tuesday starting at 4:30 p.m. The LBL Mustangs next take the field Wednesday in a single match starting at 4:30 p.m.
