The Rev. Anthony Rapozo, center, homegrown priest and pastor of St. Catherine Church in Kapaa, joined dozens of other people in waving signs fronting Macy’s at Kukui Grove Center on Kaumualii Highway to encourage people to pray for an end to abortion.

LIHUE — In celebration of the day of Prayers for the Unborn, a group of people collected along Kuhio Highway, just west of the Macy’s in Kuki Grove Mall, waving signs protesting abortion last week.

The Prayers for the Unborn rally was one of many that are held across the nation, at various times and locations, mostly attended by Catholic church members the event was also a chance to gather and say a prayer for unborn children.

The Kauai event was held Wednesday, attended by a handful of people and attendee Terri Mansfield said the response they got from drivers along the highway and those in the community was positive.

She also said this rally was unique, because it involved believers from other faiths.

“Several children joined parents and grandparents, to hold signs and wave at the passing cars. Lots of friendly horn honking and shaka waving occurred. Many of us recited the rosary. Some attendees were from a local Baptist church, so it was a powerful testament to interfaith,” Mansfield said.

Joining pastor Fr. Anthony Rapozo and Mansfield were other members of St. Catherine of Alexandria parish in Kapa’a. Other Kauai Catholic Churches were also represented including Immaculate Conception in Lihue and Holy Cross in Kalaheo.

I am all for protecting unborn children but i think the woman needs her rights protected too. I’m also for providing orphanages and ways for unwanted children to find good homes where they can be provided for.

Just wondering how many of these “Christians” have adopted unwanted children or have protested against Trump’s child detention camps. Tired of people who have nothing to lose trying to tell others how to live their lives.

Headline should have been “Small minded holds rally against abortion.”

For starters………………none of those pictured will personally face this issue and the choice it represents.

I’m sure the unborn children would have something to say about being aborted.

    They don’t have choice.

Thank goodness for these good people to come out and pray for an end to abortion.

If you don’t like abortion, then don’t get one. If you’re a male, you have no say on the issue. Stay out of my body and don’t infringe on my right to choice.
