Box jellyfish sighted at Kekaha, Salt Pond

KEKAHA — Kauai Fire Department Ocean Safety Bureau officials have advised no swimming at Salt Pond Beac Park nor Kekaha Beach Park, as box jellyfish have washing up on both shorelines, effective from noon Sunday until further advised.

Lifeguards have posted “Box Jellyfish” signs at both locations, and are urging beachgoers to follow all warning signs.

For up-to-date information about ocean conditions and ocean safety, speak to a county lifeguard at any guarded beach, see hawaiibeachsafety.com/, or call OSB, 241-4984.
