High-wind warning on

LIHUE — Kauai Island Utility Cooperative is prepared for potential outages caused by the high winds that are expected to affect Kauai and the rest of Hawaii through today.

The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind warning for Kauai and Niihau that is in effect through 6 tonight. Protect appliances and sensitive equipment from power outages and surges that may occur because of bad weather by using surge protectors, KIUC suggests.

During a storm turn off and unplug all unnecessary appliances or equipment.

So what happens if your power goes off for so long, that the food in your refrigerator goes bad and spoils, do KIUC reemburse your loses or just just say “its the work of god” so deal with it yourself?
