LIHUE — Ten of Kauai’s public schools received a total of $20,000 in awards presented by Corteva Agriscience Tuesday.
Laurie Yoshida, spokesperson for Corteva, said the awards end the Corteva season of giving, where $35,000 in total awards were presented to Kauai community organizations.
The $20,000 was broken down into $2,000 grants being awarded to the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, Kalaheo School, Kapaa High School, Kauai High School, Waimea High School, Kekaha School, Kilauea School, Koloa School, Elsie Wilcox Elementary School and Waimea Canyon Middle School, to be used for the schools’ individual projects and programs that were outlined in an application form submitted to Corteva.
Yoshida encouraged schools that did not receive awards to fill out the applications for the next round of Corteva consideration.
Other Kauai groups benefiting from the $35,000 total award include the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai branch, Kauai Independent Food Bank, Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project, Kilauea Ag Park and the Patsy Mink Center for the Kauai Mentoring event for Young Women.

PR stunt by the chem bio companies that poisoned the people, land, water, and air.
Keep on drinking their Koolaid until you all receive their special donation, the gift of cancer, children suffering from multiple health and mental ailments, and the elderly suffering from their donations.
Sell outs receive this PR stunt, while those affected by the chem bio companies suffer.
Quid pro quo…take the money…forget about the poison!
How can these poison loving people be impeached off the island.
What a joke! This is conpany is a branch of Dow, DuPont , and Pioneer. These companies have caused millions of dollars of irreversible damage to our islands ecosystem and people. This 20K bribe is an insult. For a billion dollar company this is the equivalent of a regular person giving a homeless guy a nickel. Since when did the Garden Isle news work for the chem giants. Oh yeah I forgot this newspaper is owned by a Canadian publisher and not the people of this island. Stop this corruption and bribery. Wake up people.
