The Garden Island/Zonta Club of Kauai Christmas Fund drive is underway. This holiday season, more than 700 requests for help have come in from families and individuals.
Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share stories about those facing challenges (we don’t use their real names).
Matilda is one of those people. She is a young woman with a disability who tries hard to be independent and self-sufficent. She works part time to support herself. She lives alone and could use help to purchase household items and hygiene products
Blake is a young man who live independently with his half-sister. This holiday season he would love a new, medium-sized aloha shirt.
And Carl is a good soul who tries his best to listen to his mother and stay out of trouble. This year, he wold like new clothes and shoes.
The Christmas Fund is an avenue to provide assistance to people like Matilda, Blake and Carl. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are distributed through social-service agencies.
