WAILUA — A missing hiker was rescued Friday in Wailua.
Firefighters were notified about 7:50 a.m. of a missing Utah hiker in the Keahua Arboretum.
After gathering an accurate description of the missing hiker’s rental car, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 were dispatched at approximately 9:40 a.m. and spotted the missing hiker’s rental car at the first crossing near Kuamo‘o Road in the Keahua Arboretum, a press release said.
After surveying the area during its first trip, Air 1 then refueled and continued the search for the missing hiker. About noon, the hiker was located atop a waterfall on Powerline Trail, the release said.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 short-hauled the uninjured hiker to a landing area at the Keahua Arboretum, escorted the hiker to his rental vehicle, and cleared the scene about 1:30 p.m.
