Kauai councilmember arrested following traffic stop

LIHUE — Kauai police arrested a Kauai County councilman Tuesday afternoon after he attempted to flee from police during a traffic stop.

Arthur Brun, 47, of Waimea, was arrested for resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle in the first degree and assault against a law enforcement officer in the first degree, according to a county press release.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers pulled over a dark tinted silver Honda sedan fronting the Lihue Post Office during a traffic stop. Police approached the driver when the driver fled with the vehicle, hitting the officer.

Police followed the vehicle to Kauai Beach Drive, where they successfully stopped and detained the driver. Brun was transported to Wilcox Medical Center for a medical evaluation, then brought to Police Cellblock where he remained Tuesday night. Bail has not yet been set.

The officer involved reported non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Brun was elected to the council in 2016 with 11,003 votes. He was re-elected in 2018 with 9,398 votes. He also ran for the council in 2014, finishing ninth with 8,120 votes.

Darkness that everyone knew and now the chem/bio company who got him elected knows.

How could he get elected? Only on Kauai.

Probably, most likely, it was his character flaws that did him in.

Why would you evade the laws when you’re a legislator?

What was he doing in that area?

All he had to do was obey orders and produce a DL, proof of insurance, and registration.

It’s interesting what comes of this?

Would Perry cover this up if he was still in charge like he covered up many things.

“Brun is the chair of the Transportation, Parks and Recreation committees, according to the county’s website.”–HI News NOW

No wonder nothing’s been getting done!! Let’s hope the County isn’t stupid enough to put him back on the job!

I watch a lot of the Hoike council meetings and wondered why in one month Brun would be absent from his council chair! If he did show, he was unable to sit still, rubbing his face, hair, and overall bored to death, my observation opinion. That kind of presentation is what you get when you vote in these rigged gigs of the occupier regime! Good one, Art. The P.A. and judiciary is going to have a field day I pray that like the “stolen mailbox”, just maybe you opened Kauai pandoras box, and for that i mAhalo you.

Can we all organize to get out our 2016 election signs and stand by the wailua golf course on Friday evening? We should show our support!
