HONOLULU — The Hawaii State Department of Labor &Industrial Relations on Thursday announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 2.7 percent, the same rate as in August.
Kauai’s jobless rate in September was 2.7 percent, up from 2.5 percent in August, but down from 3.1 percent in September 2018.
Statewide, 642,650 were employed and 17,750 unemployed in September for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 660,400. Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in September, compared to 3.7 percent in June through August.
Both initial claims and weeks claims decreased by 262, or 19.8 percent, and 545, or 7.9 percent, respectively for unemployment benefits compared to one year ago. Over-the-month both initial claims and weeks claims also declined by 5.7 percent and 5.2 percent respectively in September 2019.
