Dennis Fujimoto / The Garden Island

Kauai High School Leo Club (yes, they’ll be at the East Kauai Lions Club spaghetti luncheon Sunday!) members Breanna Masulit, Dylan Calderon, Hazel Elicante (she’s the officer in charge!), and Leijah Kaluahine work on volunteering to stuff envelopes at the Kauai Independent Food Bank office in Nawiliwili Wednesday.

Happy October birthdays to, from left, Geri Bulosan, Steven Freitas (his brother is Jerome “Da Shadow” Freitas), Wilma Chandler (she’s helping at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital breast cancer walk this morning) and Mike Kano who are all from the Kapaa High School Class of 1965. Geri and Mike share the same birthday, and Wilma and Steven have the same birthday.

Wow, lunch! The Kalaheo Senior Center (they’ll be providing entertainment during the annual Senior Craft Fair Oct. 12!) group, from left Heatherbell Fong, Sherman Fong, Ruth Taba (we’re still waiting for Nate Herbig to get on TV with the Eagles), Lucy Ceballos (she’s more than 90 years young and going strong!), Rose Tatiana Warken Ceballos, Margaret Padilla (and, where is Gene?), and Michael Horning enjoy lunch following their entertaining at the Garden Isle Healthcare & Rehabilitation at Wilcox Medical Center.

So, are you going to the East Kauai Lions Club (first!) spaghetti luncheon (yes, they have to-go plates, too!) Sunday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall? Doors to the craft fair and silent auction open at 9 a.m. (Sharon Sahara said she’s supposed to meet up with Bernie Sakoda and state Rep. Nadine Nakamura before the spaghetti starts serving at 10 a.m.), and the Kauai High School Leo Club (they were busy volunteering at the Kauai Independent Food Bank Wednesday) are supposed to be helping do everything.
