Voters are anxious and wary as Democrats pursue impeachment

Yon Thomand of Burnsville, Minn., shown Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, says Trump should be impeached. “Being president doesn’t mean you have the right to mess with people’s lives,” she said. “You want a president who represents America, respects people, respects the law.” House Democrats are charging toward impeachment, bringing millions of wary voters for the ride at considerable political risk. The Associated Press interviewed more than 50 voters across nine states, largely in congressional districts held by freshman Democrats on the frontline of the fight.
