Congratulations to Gary (Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami promoted him to governor of Kilauea!) and Haunani Pacheco, Trinette Kaui and Sonia Topenio on being the most recent awardees of the Mea Hoomanao Awards that were started by the late Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste and presented during the Kauai Chamber of Commerce third-quarter general membership meeting at the Kauai Beach Resort near Hanamaulu (how was that farm-to-table dinner?).

Kudos to Warren Haruki (he even showed up at the Friday county Department of Water Make A Splash water education event!) and his Grove Farm ohana (great job emceeing, coach Beau Acoba!) on being the title sponsor for the meeting (Waimea bowling coach Todd Ozaki was missing the action), where some special guests like Brian Miyamoto of the Hawaii (state) Farm Bureau, Jane Sawyer of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and David Sayre got to experience the great work being done by Mark Perriello, Carol Manera Texeira (ask her about that new lash fan she found), and Anna Baudouin (congrats on getting honorable mention in the PhotoCon contest!).
More kudos to Jonel Kaohelauli‘i and Jason Fujinaka on coordinating the 16th (has it been that long?) Make A Splash (Laurie Ho came home just in time to coordinate refreshments for the volunteers) water education festival, where the Grove Farm people were helping, and Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School media students with Kevin Matsunaga were between the raindrops helping document the event.
