LIHUE — A Braveheart Futsal Club parent was ecstatic, Sunday as the whistle transitioned teams on the North Vidinha soccer fields.

“This is their first win,” the parent said. “They beat Futsal Kauai, 6-4 in the 10 Under Boys game after a hard-fought contest.

this is just their second season and have a new coach.”

Kaleb Panui notched a hat trick, or three goals scored, to lead the Chaos 10 Under Boys to a 7-1 win over the Keahi SC in another contest unfolding before an enthusiastic audience that huddled under umbrellas against the heat and wind.

Panui found the net in the 13th minute for his first goal that was joined by a net from Makaio Melchor in the 24th minute.

Keahi SC answered the call when Ryder Faye found the net a minute later for the 1-2 deficit.

Panui unleashed a pair of goals in the 33rd and 35th minutes, and was joined by nets from Micah Hussey in the 36th minute, Kingston Anakalea in the 41st minute, and Kekona Bactad-Barrett in the 42nd minute for the 7-1 victory.

The Braveheart and Chaos contests were just one of 17 matches contested, Sunday when the Kauai Soccer Association opened its fall season games that will play on the North Vidinha fields on Sundays starting at 10 a.m.

“We have 45 teams ranging in age from the 8 Under through the 18 Under divisions,” said Kevin Gusman, a KSA leader. “This means as many as 22 games being played each Sunday through November 17, the last day of the fall season. Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 are set aside for playoffs and championship games.”

Gusman said Kauai Soccer Association operates its fall season under the auspices of U.S. Club while the spring season comes under the Hawaii Youth Soccer Association umbrella.

“This allows the youth the most opportunities in the game of soccer,” Gusman said.

Games continue Sunday from 10 a.m. at the North Vidinha fields.
