Learn disaster prep Saturday

HANAPEPE — You can fight fires with the pros on Saturday at the Hanapepe National Guard Armory, at the Kauai Community Disaster Preparedness fair. It is free.

Set to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the fair is a chance to learn from the experts about preparing for disasters. Along with learning how to use a fire extinguisher alongside firefighters, try out radios that would take the place of cell phones and landlines, learn first aid and control bleeding.

Community Emergency Response Team is giving lessons on community response in disasters.

Exhibits include American Red Cross, Skywarn Spotters, National Guard, and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative.
