Spread across 317 acres, a parceled subdivision of the original McBryde Sugar Company — one of the the largest parcels of private land for sale on Kauai — will sell at auction this month via Concierge Auctions.
The property, known as the Makali‘i Plantation, includes a 4,000-square-foot main house, two cottages, and is parceled into 17-to-54-acre lots primed for residential development. It is the former Olu Pua Gardens site just west of Kalaheo.
Currently listed for $12 million, the estate will sell without reserve in cooperation with Luana Dellaluce of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers.
Bidding will be open May 21 to May 24 via conciergeauctions.com, which allows bidders to participate digitally from anywhere in the world.
“The panoramic ocean views and the privacy that the property provides is like no other on Kauai,” said Dellaluce. “This is the perfect retreat for those looking for a large, private parcel of land. This property could be a developer’s dream with potential to create large, equestrian estate homes with riding and hiking trails.”
Featuring views of The Garden Island’s southern coast, the move-in ready, old-world Hawaiian main home at 2-2131-Z Kaumualii Highway boasts three bedrooms, walls of windows, custom millwork and built-ins; hardwood, travertine and resin tile floors; a fireplace, chef’s kitchen, and a two-car garage.
A separate camp house offers two bedrooms and bathrooms, and a guest house includes an additional bedroom and bathroom.
There is the potential to build nine additional homes on the property as a development community or an expansion of a family compound.
Additional outdoor amenities include equestrian facilities, horse-riding trails, walking and jogging paths, a farmland pasture, and wooded areas.
Palms, banyans, and emerald-green grasses gently slope toward the Pacific Ocean. Located 15 minutes from Poipu Beach Park, Makali‘i Pantation offers year-round access to wildlife.
When I was very young – hanabata days – I spent a lot of time at Olu Pua as our friends lived there. Hid out up there in the ’59 hurricane.
Very interesting that it has not sold yet. Seems like a beautiful parcel that had been up for grabs a long time. Maybe you should disclose the(lack of)water issues that come along with this modest parcel in your ad for these modest Westside land speculators
