Vehicles, trailers and other debris were washed away during the 2018 April floods on the Haraguchi Farm and throughout the rest of Kauai’s North Shore.

A flooded lo’i, or taro patch, is at right after the April 2018 rains, along Ohiki Road, the road leading to the historic Haraguchi Rice Mill just off Kuhio Highway. For reference, the Hanalei River is to the left of the road.

HANALEI — The Haraguchi family is used to wading in muddy water, but 2018 brought a whole new level of flooding to the taro lo’i that border the Hanalei River.
