Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami will be the keynote speaker at the Lihue Business Association meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Duke’s Canoe Club.
The mayor is expected to share his vision and goals for his administration.
“Our former county councilmember and state representative is initiating plans to address housing, visitor capacity, environmental stress on our special places and many of the other issues that affect our daily lives in Kauai County,” according to a press release.
“As the mayor prepares to submit his first annual budget for review, he has also turned his attention to county operations, the state TAT (transient accommodations tax, or hotel-room tax), and other funding resources.”
The meeting is free and the public is welcome.
