Elixir back, seeking more movie extras

LIHUE — Hollywood has announced the casting call for adults in an upcoming Disney film set to start shooting in 2019.

The film could be “Hobbs and Shaw,” starring Jason Statham, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Vanessa Kirby and Idris Elba.

A spinoff of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, Hobbs and Shaw follows the adventures and misadventures of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, and according to IMDB, is set to start shooting next year.

Elixir is announcing an open casting call for paid extras, stand-ins and principal roles at the Kauai Marriott Resort on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 9:20 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Right off the bat, Elixir points out: “If you attended our casting call in April for Jungle Cruise/Elixir, you are still in our files and do not need to attend this casting call.”

No experience is necessary, but you could be standing in line for quite some time judging from the April event at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort.

Lines wrapped around the building to be an extra on the sets of the first Jungle Cruise movie, staring Emily Blunt and Johnson.

Characters in that casting call included fishermen/women, dock workers, restaurant workers, shop owners, craftsmen/women, basket weavers, international travelers and villager types.

This time around, Elixir is calling for Polynesian-looking men and women, specifically Polynesian-looking men “comfortable around machines, tools and have automotive and/or motorcycle skills for specialty roles.”

Men and women should appear 18-80 years old and Samoan language skills are helpful, but not necessary.

The casting call reiterates the need for Polynesian-looking boys who are “comfortable on set and confident, some too smart for their own good.”

Finally, the casting call goes out to African American-looking men between the heights of 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 4 inches who appear ages 30-50 years.

Those who land extra, stand-in and principal roles on set will be paid.

Elixir Productions also recently released a casting call for Polynesian-looking boys, ages 8 to 14, to play younger versions of the film’s three principal actors.
