Republican Ivey defeats Democrat Walt Maddox

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Kay Ivey, who became Alabama’s governor last year when her predecessor resigned in a cloud of scandal, was elected Tuesday to a full term after fending off a challenge from Democratic rival Walt Maddox.
