Beers from Kona Brewing will be served for $5, with all proceeds to go to Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus Fund toward the eradication of polio worldwide.
“Rotarians have played a key role in bringing the world to the brink of polio eradication,” said Past President and Community Service Chair Michael Carlsson. “We are at a critical point. I hope our visitors and friends will join us on Oct. 24 so we can have fun and talk story while raising money for this important effort.”
Members of Rotary Club of Poipu Beach are among millions reaching out on World Polio Day to raise awareness, funds and support to end polio.
Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative 30 years ago, the incidence of polio has plummeted from about 350,000 cases a year to just 22 cases in 2017. To sustain this progress, and protect all children from polio, Rotary has committed to raising $50 million per year in support of global polio eradication efforts.
