POIPU — Coryssa Silva earned All Around Cowgirl honors, and Casera Silva emerged as the Reserve All Around Cowgirl from the Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association event that wrapped up Sunday at the CJM Country Stables.
Coryssa and Casera battled neck-and-neck in 3D Barrel Racing where Casera finished ahead of Coryssa by a mere .021 second in the 1st D of the triple-tiered event.
But Coryssa rebounded in Pole Bending where she commanded atop Bodge with a go that stopped the clocks at 22.207 over Casera who rode Twister to a 22.648 go, and Taz to a 22.741 go to fill in the top three spots of the 1st D.
Casera came back to take Goat Tying on a 21.920 go over Coryssa who finished fourth at 22.522. She continued to rack up points and took top honors in steer undercorating with a 5.81 go over Coryssa’s fourth place finish at 15.35.
Coryssa charged back in the breakaway roping with a 6.77 average on two go’s, taking the fast time for the event on a 3.23 go.
Both girls partnered in the dally team roping to finish second with a 24.61 average on two go’s as well as taking the fast time on an 8.69 go. Coryssa went on to header for Marti Miranda and finished third at 34.79. Casera did heeling for Kristyn Vasconcelles, the duo finishing fourth at 38.98.
