Brun a dual winner at Koloa Plantation Days rodeo

Miss Rodeo Kauai London Andrade and Savannah Miranda, the Koloa Plantation Days rodeo princess, take their honor lap around the CJM Country Stables arena.

POIPU — London Andrade was crowned Miss Kauai Rodeo, and Savannah Miranda earned the Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo Princess crown as the three-day rodeo heralded the start of the 30th Koloa Plantation Days at the CJM Country Stables.

Following the three days of action, Pat Brun Jr. emerged a double winner, teaming with Robert Rita for top honors in the Century Team Roping with a 6.74 go. He partnered with Randy Brun to soar to the top of High Dollar Team Roping, finishing with a 28.23 average on three go’s.

“I didn’t do that well in Barrels,” the rodeo princess said. “But I was trying a new horse.”

That did not stop her from attaining her regal position at the rodeo that launched with the inauguration, Friday night and continued through Sunday afternoon.

Wehilani Blackstad blistered the arena on an 18.35 go, Sunday to soar to a 37.28 average on two go’s for top honors in the Jr. Barrel Racing event. Coralyn Murayama shared the arena with reigning Miss Hawaii Rodeo Kiana Uechi-Won of Oahu, but held on to the top spot in Wahine Barrel Racing with her 17.91 go.
