Tornadoes sweep through Iowa; major damage and some injuries

DES MOINES, Iowa — A flurry of tornadoes that formed unexpectedly swept through central Iowa Thursday, injuring at least 17 people, flattening buildings in three cities and forcing the evacuation of a hospital.
