KALAHEO — The Kaulupono girls basketball teams took both ends of its matches Saturday during the youth basketball summer games at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Kaulupono fifth-grade division girls opened the day with a 29-11 win over Na Koa behind the leads of Taira Samiano and Kiaura Ortiz-Rita, who dropped six and five points, respectively. Carlyn Rapozo-Kamoku topped Na Koa fifth-grade scoring with 10 points.
Kaulupono wrapped up its successful outing with a 34-19 win in the ninth-grade girls division over the Dream Team, which got seven points from Alexie Ann Yam and six marks from Jada Ines.
Kaye Serapio, who plays up for the high school division girls as well, topped the game with 11 points for Kaulupono, followed by Kierstin Gummerus and Kaylah Santos, both also playing up for the high school division team, adding six points apiece.
In a battle of the Westside teams, Katelyn Constantino dropped a game-high 15 points to lead the Westside Blue fifth-grade division girls to a 30-13 showing over Westside White. Cassie Valencia added to the Blue win with six points, and Tristen Raposas led the White effort with six points.
Isabel Speasmaker, Alena Abeil and Kiyara Bell-Ibaan lit up the scoreboard with six points apiece to lead Na Koa 18, a fifth-grade division girls team, to its 18-2 showing over the Ballers 2, which got a pair from Ginger Nunes.
Games in the youth basketball summer games continue tonight with three games on tap at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Kaulupono ninth-grade girls will open against Na Koa in the 6 p.m. tipoff, followed by a pair of seventh-grade boys division matches. Na Koa White will face off against the Warriors Blue at 7 p.m., followed by Na Koa Green taking on the Warriors Volt in the 8 p.m. showdown.
Tuesday night will see three games at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center as the Ballers ninth-grade girls division squad squares off against the Dream Team in the 6 p.m. tipoff. The Westside Blue fifth-grade girls division team goes up against the Dream Team fifth-grade girls in the 7 p.m. match, followed by the seventh-grade girls division Ballers meeting the Raiders starting at 8 p.m.
