LIHUE — Prosecuting Attorney Justin F. Kollar announced that Jesse Korn, 27, formerly of Koloa, pleaded no contest to the charges of sexual assault in the first degree, a class A felony, sexual assault in the second degree, a class B felony, kidnapping, a class B felony, and sexual assault in the third degree, a class C felony, for sexually assaulting three individuals, including a minor during the burglary of multiple residences in Koloa in December.
On Tuesday, Korn appeared in front of Fifth Circuit Judge Kathleen N.A. Watanabe, and entered his no contest pleas along with his court-appointed attorney, John Murphy, and a Marshallese interpreter. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like represented the state of Hawaii.
The state will be seeking a term of 35 years in prison at sentencing. Because Korn is not a U.S. citizen, he faces deportation following his prison sentence.
Korn was apprehended following a two-day manhunt and has been in custody since December 12, 2017, in lieu of $500,000 bail.
“We are satisfied knowing that this dangerous individual will never walk the streets of our community again,” stated Kollar.
Korn remains in custody and will be sentenced on Sept. 26.
In cases like these when non-US citizens commit a crime, his/her host country should be the ones paying for his free three square meals, medical and other expenses, NOT us taxpayers! To imprison this criminal for 35 years will cost $millions, money that is wasted to keep this degenerate alive that could have gone to the victims instead of being flushed down the toilet, then get deported back to Marshal Island.
At the least , make him do hard labor every day instead of eating, sleeping and watching cable TV in air conditioned rooms.
i agree whole heartily with above harry oyama.
I agree with Harry as well, however, this guy’s going to prison for sexual assault (of a minor), I’m sure he’ll get exactly what’s coming to him in there…
