University of Hawaii football coach Nick Rolovich and his staff will host a free youth football camp Wednesday at Vidinha Stadium.
Coordinated through the county’s Dept. of Parks and Recreation, the camp is geared toward youngsters from 5 years old through the eighth grade. Walk-in registration will be accepted at the gate.
The camp will run from 10 a.m. to noon with registration taking place from 9 a.m. at the main gate.
Parents of young football participants need to download the waiver form which is online at www.kauai.gov/summerprograms, complete the form and bring it to the camp.
Rolovich and his staff will be focusing on offensive and defensive techniques to provide participants with exposure to both facets of the game. There is no prior experience needed to participate in the came.
Players are asked to wear athletic shoes, athletic shorts, and a shirt. There is no need for any football equipment such as helmets or pads.
Participants are strongly encouraged to have sunscreen applied prior to the start of camp.
If an American Sign Language interpreter, materials in an alternate format, or other auxiliary aid support, or an interpreter for a language other than English is required for a child to participate, call Tyra at 241-4468, or send an email to recadm@kauai.gov prior to the event.
