Congratulations, too, to Debra de Luis and her Catholic Charities ohana who dedicated their new offices at the corner of Rice and Umi streets Friday. This is for all the people (how was lunch at Kiibo?) who wondered why all the people were going into that new office space, and mahalo to County Councilmember Derek Kawakami (did you check out his new campaign headquarters yet?), who helped get the “lost” people turned to the right direction. Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was able to squeeze in the blessing right after the grand opening of Timbers Kauai, and Kaulana Finn and Carrice Caspillo Gardner made their appearances after the Kauai Chamber of Commerce’s political forum for lieutenant governor candidates at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort near Hanamaulu.
The good thing about having to beat the traffic is being able to drop in on the Kealia Farms farmers market, where Nihi Asquith made her debut juggling golf balls (hope they have some at the Perkins School for the Blind in Boston, where Nihi can thrill those people too!) between selling those bags of boiled kalo and poi, and kudos to the Rev. Kosen Ishikawa and the Kapaa Jodo Mission ohana on a great bon dance to start the 2018 season!
See you at the West Kauai Hongwanji, Hanapepe Temple event, Friday and Saturday!
