What a novel idea — Jessica Carvalho celebrated her birthday with friends Jo Ann Fukunaga, Dee Ann Pau, Jaryn Gandia and Debbie Harris making lei po‘o at “Jessica’s Lei Po‘o Party” at Lydgate Beach Park. The scene was reminiscent of old-time days when people got together to do lei, the Birthday Squad saying this was the only thing to do because Jessica loves flowers. Happy birthday, Jessica!

Mahalo to Maryanne Kusaka and Christian Marston of the Kauai Museum for hosting the Mamu Primary School delegation to an afternoon paina at the museum’s courtyard that was a suitable setting for the performance of their chicken song the students did during the Wilcox School May Day (mahalo to Leila Kobayashi for inviting the school to interact with the Wilcox students).
Kudos to Meagan Nii who will be hosting her 10th anniversary of creative arts Wednesday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall (yes, it’s open!) starting at 6:30 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to see the Wilcox Performing Arts students in action. And it’s free!
