Watch out for phone scammers - The Garden Island

LIHUE — Kauai Island Utility Cooperative has received multiple calls from members reporting they had received calls from someone claiming to be from KIUC directing them to go to the store and purchase prepaid cards to pay their electric bill or their power would be cut off.

Similar incidents were reported in November, October, April and January of 2017. KIUC does not initiate calls to customers about late bills.
