Kauai students have no school today. Instead, they will be celebrating Kauai Teacher Institute Day.
A friendly reminder was issued Monday by Kauai Complex Area Superintendent, William Arakaki, stating that Kauai students should not report to class on Feb. 13.
As a professional work day, teacher attendance is still expected throughout the state. Teacher Institute Day coincides with events throughout the week at Hawaii State Teachers Association chapters across the islands.
Kauai Institute Day will take place at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School with a general session featuring keynote speaker, former HSTA executive director, Joan Husted. Teachers will also participate in workshops.
