HONOLULU — Honolulu police say a man who spent time on Delaware’s death row has been indicted in Hawaii on human trafficking charges.
Police say 30-year-old Isaiah McCoy and 35-year-old Tawana Roberts were arrested on Wednesday on prostitution charges. They have both pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Army officials say Roberts is an active Army Sergeant currently assigned to the 25th Sustainment Brigade in Schofield Barracks.
In 2012, Delaware’s highest court overturned McCoy’s murder conviction and death sentence, citing prosecutorial misconduct. A second trial resulted in McCoy being acquitted of the 2010 murder.
McCoy moved to Hawaii after being freed. Last September, he was arrested in connection to a triple-shooting that killed a man. McCoy wasn’t the murder suspect, but was in the same apartment as the accused killer.
