The Garden Island/Zonta Club of Kauai Christmas Fund helps young and old.
Let’s start with Sarah, an elderly, homebound woman on a limited income. It is difficult for her to walk and stand because of the pain caused by arthritis. Any thoughtful gift would brighten her day and bring her joy.
And there is Kainoa, a 2-year-old with a speech delay. He receives therapy from Easter Seals Kauai. He lives with his mother, grandmother, stepfather and three siblings in a small apartment. His mom is very loving and is involved in his therapy sessions. The family would appreciate financial assistance to purchase some books and toys.
The TGI/Zonta Christmas Fund received a boost this year when the Hale Uluwehi Kauai Fund pledged to match donations of $100 or more up to $5,000. When the $5,000 mark was hit, the pledge was increased to $10,000, which it hit.
There is still time to help.
Donations to the Christmas Fund are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates at local stores to make wishes come true for those families in need.
Only monetary donations are accepted. Checks, payable to Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation, can be mailed to P.O. Box 3032, Lihue, HI., 96766. For further information, call Yoshiko “Dimples” Kano at 822-4517.
