Free series of CERT classes set for Lihue

CERT announces upcoming classes

LIHUE — The Community Emergency Response Team announces upcoming training courses in Lihue.

Classes will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., every Wednesday beginning Jan. 10 through Feb. 14, at the Kauai Fire Department headquarters training center, 4444 Rice St., Ste. 315.

CERT is a six-week disaster and emergency preparedness course tailored to citizens and taught by firefighters. It is free to residents as part of a program sponsored by KFD and the Kauai Emergency Management Agency.

Participants will learn about different types of disasters and how to prepare and respond. Topics will include fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and first aid.
