LIHUE — Kauai Island Utility Cooperative members may be asked to participate in a phone survey over the next two weeks to assess the current availability and use of broadband service on Kauai.
The survey has been commissioned by KIUC and will be conducted by Ward Research from Dec. 11 to Dec. 22.
“Utility cooperatives all over the country are looking into broadband services as an extension of their business,” said David Bissell, KIUC’s president and chief executive officer. “While there are several existing broadband providers on Kauaʻi, we wish to determine if there are any gaps in service or opportunities for KIUC to play a role in enhancing broadband availability to our members.”
Members will be randomly selected for the survey, which will take roughly 10 minutes to complete. All geographic areas of the island will be solicited for input.
“We appreciate the cooperation of our members in gathering some initial information so we can determine if this is an area worth further study,” Bissell said.
