LIHUE — The rains stopped, and the music took away the nip from the cold brisk tradewinds at Kukui Grove Center, as the annual computerized light show set to holiday music kicked off.
“This year’s event is even longer than previous years,” said David Sosner, the Kukui Grove Center general manager. “We got to preview it, and it is longer with several new numbers, some composed especially for Kukui Grove, adding to the excitement.”
The Holiday Light Show is in its third year. Friday night’s launch was done following the Lights on Rice parade so people could indulge in the intoxication of lights.
The free light show will be presented again at 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Christmas at the end of Palm Drive which will be closed during the show. From Dec. 15, the Holiday Light Show will be presented each night through Christmas starting at 7 p.m., with extended shopping hours from Kukui Grove merchants.
“And, of course, we have Santa on hand for picture-
taking,” said Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, the special events coordinator at Kukui Grove. “I got mine done so we can send it off to my mother. And I did take the digital option so I can send copies off to friends and family. The kids were enjoying the special light show and snow in the exhibition area, too.”
Busy night. A superferry would increase volume of sales and hotel rooms being filled. Store closes at 9:30 p.m. Black Friday is over. Anything left?
