Continuing a tradition that started in 1970, the Mokihana Club is inviting graduating high school seniors to apply for its annual 2018 Music Scholarship Competition.
To be eligible, applicants must have resided on Kauai for four months prior to the April 4 Music Scholarship Competition; be a senior graduating in 2018 who is a student of voice, piano, orchestral strings, orchestral woodwinds, orchestral percussion, classical guitar or brass instruments; and be planning to attend an accredited college, university or vocational school, or study with a qualified music teacher.
Applications are available at local high schools, from some private music teachers, and from the music scholarship chairman, Susan Hironaka, at shironaka@twc.com. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 14.
Qualified applicants will compete in a recital at the Lihue Parish Hall on April 4.
