LYDGATE — Mine for microplastics in the popular Lydgate Park swimming ponds on Saturday with The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park, during a two-hour beach grooming event that starts at 8:30 a.m.
Recent king tides, which are the highest tides of the year and happen every year, have brought in the small chips of plastic trash and deposited them into the pools.
Cleanup is done through a process developed by The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate that results in separating the plastic pieces from the sand.
Bring your own work gloves and sun protection. Meet near the life guard tower at 8:30 a.m.
